bi3, Bethesda Inc.’s grants initiative to transform health, awarded approximately $1.59 million to 37 area nonprofit organizations for investments in technology, tools and training that will help them adapt to a virtual environment and increase community access to health and social services.
After witnessing the broad needs amid the pandemic, bi3 issued the proposal request: Transforming Health Through Capacity Building. bi3 sought proposals addressing health or social needs that impact health outcomes particularly for those most impacted by health disparities such as communities of color and rural areas.
Grant awards, which averaged about $40,000, provide one-time investments. The funding will build community organizations’ infrastructure to deliver virtual services and other capacities by helping them to acquire tools, education, and technology to strengthen operations now and into the future.
