A 10-year look at the impact of policy changes and opportunities for the future
Thanks to the work of our partner Cradle Cincinnati and other community collaborators, infant mortality rates in Hamilton County recently fell to a rate of 5.5 deaths per 1,000 births. However, rates remain higher across Ohio, according to a bi3-fueled report from Groundwork Ohio, citing that seven of every 1,000 babies born in Ohio still die before their first birthday.
This report reviews the data and key policy changes in Ohio over the past decade, celebrating successes, pinpointing areas where progress remains inadequate, and identifying opportunities to help more of Ohio’s children reach their first birthday.
