“A team is values-driven when team members value working together; they are constantly improving themselves, their team, their environment, and their tools; and they strive to live an appropriate set of values.”
Instead of setting resolutions each new year, the bi3 team chooses a word to guide our decisions and actions throughout the year. In 2024, our word of the year is “Values-Driven.”
While our core values have always guided us, we felt it imperative to place them front and center as our bi3 team grows and plans for the future. We strive to:
- Respect all people
- Value diversity, equity and inclusion
- Honor our spiritual heritage and the legacy of the German Methodist Deaconesses
- Build trust
- Be courageous and willing to take risks and challenge the status quo
These core values also echo the tenets of our practice of Trust-Based Philanthropy, where we remain a national leader, partnering with grantees in the spirit of service and demonstrating mutual accountability, trust, humility and respect.
As we kick off 2024, the bi3 team is poised and ready to advance our work to accelerate birth equity, improve youth mental health and drive innovation and health equity at TriHealth and throughout our community.

Bethesda Inc. Board Chair named Pillar Nonprofit Board Executive of the Year for Community Service
Bethesda Inc. Board Chair Dr. Robert Collins received the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Board Executive of the Year for his dedication, time and expertise furthering the bi3 mission over the past decade. Since bi3’s inception in 2010, Dr. Collins has been a guiding force in awarding $100 million in grants to fuel health equity and healthcare innovation at TriHealth and in our community. He is a champion for diversity and leader in addressing health disparities in our community. bi3 reaches $100 million in grants
bi3 recently reached $100 million in grant funding. It’s a milestone moment—one that allows us to reflect on some of the significant long-term impact we’ve made together with our community partners. One of our proudest is the 220 babies alive today because of the collective efforts we have helped fund over the past decade.
