The bi3 Fund awards $400,000 to local nonprofits to improve birth outcomes and address health disparities
The bi3 Fund is awarding funding to three local nonprofit organizations to foster access to healthcare for Black and Hispanic women, expand doula services across the region and further health equity for Black men.
$200,000 to The Mothership Institute for Womb Wellness
Funding will support expanding The Mothership Institute’s childbirth education and doula services, establishing infrastructure for Medicaid reimbursement, and hosting community-based events for local parents to improve birth outcomes and maternal health.
$150,000 to Healthy Moms & Babes
The grant will support the Mobile Van Outreach program, enabling Healthy Moms & Babes to provide more comprehensive medical care to Black and Hispanic women who do not have an established healthcare provider. Healthy Moms & Babes serves as an entry point to the healthcare system, resulting in mothers receiving more prenatal and postnatal care and increasing positive birth outcomes in the community.
$50,000 to The DAD Initiative
Funding will support the relaunch of the Black Man’s Think Tank, a series of events dedicated to addressing Black men’s health and societal challenges. The events focus on mental and physical health, financial well-being, enhanced interpersonal skills, and stronger community ties. The reimagined Black Man Think Tanks builds on the original series from 1983 to 1999.
