bi3 has been fortunate to partner with leading organizations in our community. The success and lessons learned together paved the way to our current funding priorities. Below is a list of current initiatives fueled by bi3 funding.
Best Point Education and Behavioral Health
“Maternal Mental Health (MMH) Initiative”
bi3 granted $500,000 over three years to support Best Point’s Maternal Mental Health (MMH) Initiative—a program that leverages the organization’s proven home-visiting infrastructure and clinical expertise to provide culturally responsive screening and therapy services focusing primarily on Black mothers across Greater Cincinnati. This investment enables Best Point to bridge critical gaps in care, increase early detection and treatment, and improve long-term outcomes for families by embedding mental health supports where moms already are—at home, in clinics, and online. Blaq Birth Circle
“Supporting birth equity”
A 3-year $200,000 grant to Blaq Birth Circle supports efforts to build a professional support network for Black birth workers, including doulas. The three-year grant fosters continuing professional birth education while building the community of Black birth workers, ultimately improving the quality of care provided to Black birthing families. Catholic Charities of Southwestern Ohio
“Mental Health Response”
A $200,000 grant from bi3 supports mental health needs by increasing access to multilingual services and improving community health through resource referral, navigation to health and mental health services and case management. The grant funds were divided between Su Casa and Catholic Charities Mental Health Services. (2025)
Central Clinic Outpatient Services
“Mental Health Response”
A $150,000 grant from bi3 helps Central Clinic Outpatient Services promote mental health and wellbeing by highlighting specialized services and expanding capacity and access to culturally competent services. (2025)
Christ Tabernacle Ministries of Excellence
“Next Gen Mental Health Check”
bi3 granted $272,000 over two years to support the initiative’s launch. The program provides vital mental health resources through education, peer support groups, and events, and connects people to available care and resources. Efforts will increase access to culturally competent mental health services and establish community support networks. (2024)

Consortium for Resilient Children
“Improving youth mental health”
A one-year $50,000 grant positions the longstanding local Consortium of ten early childhood and mental health organizations to build capacity through pilot training and development of early childhood professionals. (2023)

Cradle Cincinnati
“Cradle Cincinnati’s Community Informed 2023-2027 Strategic Plans”
bi3 awarded a three-year, $3,320,066 grant to transform systems and create equity for Black birthing people in Hamilton County by creating a community-based ecosystem of support for Black birthing people, supporting Black birthing people across all stages of their pregnancy and parenthood by providing for basic needs, and expanding the medical system’s capacity to center the needs of Black birthing people. Data for Equity Funding Collaborative
“Expanding the Collaborative”
A $600,000 grant supports two additional cohorts of 10 health-focused nonprofit organizations in developing their capacity to use data to build equitable approaches and programs. (2024)

Every Child Succeeds
“Family Connects Ohio”
A $160,000 grant supports the foundation and expansion of Family Connects—an evidence-based nurse home-visiting program providing no-cost visits to families during the critical early postpartum period. (2025)
Fernside Center for Grieving Children
“Expanding bereavement services”
A three-year $1.3 million bi3 grant helps Fernside Center for Grieving Children expand bereavement services, such as support groups and crisis programs, to more schools and families while also seeding an endowment to support the organization long-term. (2023)
Great Miami Valley YMCA-Booker T. Washington Community Center
“Maternal Wellness Center”
The three-year, $500,000 grant supports the launch of a Maternal Wellness Center in Butler County, providing culturally affirming care that includes therapy, healing circles, movement, and family support for Black and Hispanic women from pregnancy through 3 years postpartum. Programming was designed based on community input, leveraging the organization’s deep, trusted relationships with Black and Hispanic communities. The Maternal Wellness Center is expected to increase maternal wellbeing, expand access to care, and raise community awareness of maternal mental health. (2025)

Greater Cincinnati Foundation
“Better Together Fund”
A $250,000 bi3 grant contributes to GCF’s Better Together Fund to support our nonprofit sector with capacity building, shared services, and new collaborative partnerships and mergers. (2026)

Groundwork Ohio
“Supporting the Center for Maternal and Young Child Health”
The three-year $750,000 grant supports the Center in advancing best practices in prenatal-to-five health policy. The Center engages in research and policy analysis, provides advocacy training for stakeholders and families, and builds a statewide coalition to advocate for policy changes that improve health outcomes for moms and young children. The funding builds on bi3’s $1.2 million grant in 2021, which launched the Center and played a key role in expanding postpartum Medicaid coverage in Ohio. (2024)
Healthy Moms & Babes
“Mobile Van Outreach”
bi3 awarded $150,000 supports the Mobile Van Outreach program, enabling Healthy Moms & Babes to provide more comprehensive medical care to Black and Hispanic women who do not have an established healthcare provider. Healthy Moms & Babes serves as an entry point to the healthcare system, resulting in mothers receiving more prenatal and postnatal care and increasing positive birth outcomes in the community. (2024)
Health Policy Institute Ohio
“Supporting health policy that improves health”
bi3 awarded a three-year $150,000 grant to support the Health Policy Institute of Ohio’s core operations, including the development of independent and nonpartisan evidence-informed state health policy that improves health value. (2023)

Hopeful Empowered Youth (HEY!)
“Regional Youth Mental Health Strategy”
With a $1 million grant, bi3 supports the operations of HEY!’s backbone staff and youth fellowship as well as grant funding for the implementation of the collaborative’s strategies and projects. HEY! is the result of unprecedented community collaboration, bringing together community groups, funders, healthcare providers, educators, policymakers, families, and, most importantly, youth, working collaboratively to create a community that supports the well-being of all youth. Immigrant and Refugee Law Center
“Mental Health Response”
A $75,000 grant from bi3 supports the Immigrant and Refugee Law Center in providing legal counsel and referrals to holistic services for children and families, including counseling and healthcare navigation. (2025)

IV-CHARIS
“Improving mental health access and services for BIPOC families and children”
bi3 awarded a $150,000 grant to support the development of a pilot program to improve mental health access and services for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) families and children in Fairfield and West Chester. The program provides a combination of mental health assessments, music-infused art therapy and support from community health workers to help families access additional healthcare resources. (2024)
“After-School Family Support Program”
bi3 awarded a $400,000 grant to operationalize a trauma-informed, family-centered wellness model inside Butler County schools, closing the gap between mental-health need and access. (2026)
Jamaa Health
“The Peace of Mind Project”
An 18-month $150,000 bi3 grant supported the launch of The Peace of Mind Project in partnership with Diasporic Soul. The project aims to design and offer a replicable four-part mental health and wellbeing intervention that integrates cultural and contemplative practices, creating a safe communal space for Black men ages 18-40. The project will also develop a curriculum and offer training for practitioners, providers, and community members across the Greater Cincinnati region to improve cultural competency in addressing the mental health needs of Black men. Me & She Doula
“Me & She Doula Services for Families”
bi3 awarded $200,000 over three years to support families with doula services, childbirth and breastfeeding education and to measure outcomes from the support. Funding will also support the training and mobilization of new and existing doulas, and collaboration with other maternal health services. (2023)
Mental Health America of Ohio
“Perinatal Outreach and Encouragement for Moms (POEM)”
bi3 awarded $500,000 over three years to help Mental Health America of Ohio expand its Perinatal Outreach and Encouragement for Moms (POEM) program in Cincinnati, building off successful implementation in Central Ohio and Dayton. Over the next three years, the program will impact at least 600 moms through peer support, care navigation, and support groups, strengthening family stability and emotional wellbeing and ensuring equitable access to maternal mental health services. The program also has the potential to support advocacy efforts for systems change. (2025)

NyNi, Inc.
“Supporting birth equity”
bi3 awarded a three-year $200,000 grant to NyNi, Inc. to increase the number of trained and certified community-based Black birth doulas in Butler and Hamilton Counties by providing training to approximately 100 Black birth doulas. The training would include certification and business development, which would create a pathway for Medicaid reimbursement and involve mentoring other doulas. (2023)
Primary Health Solutions
“Integrated maternal health services”
bi3 awarded $500,000 over three years to fuel the expansion of integrated maternal health services for underserved pregnant women with high-risk, complicated pregnancies throughout Butler County. It will include ultrasounds, diabetic management, mental health services, and additional support during mom’s first year postpartum and baby’s first year of life. Ultimately, Primary Health Solutions, which is exploring a partnership with TriHealth, aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. (2024)

“Mental Health Response”
A $75,000 grant from bi3 supports Refugee Connect in improving community health through resource referral, navigation to health and mental health services and case management. (2025)
The HealthCare Connection
“Portable Ultrasound”
bi3 granted $57,677 to The HealthCare Connection (THCC) to support securing a portable ultrasound system for the Mt. Healthy Family Practice Center, operated by THCC. (2025)
The Mothership Institute for Womb Wellness
“Childbirth Education and Doula Services”
bi3 granted $200,000 to The Mothership Institute for Womb Wellness to support expanding The Mothership Institute’s childbirth education and doula services, establishing infrastructure for Medicaid reimbursement, and hosting community-based events for local parents to improve birth outcomes and maternal health. (2024)

The Transformational Healing Place, Inc.
“Designing a Culturally Rooted Maternal Mental Health Model”
bi3 granted $131,220 to co-design, test, and refine a sustainable, culturally grounded prenatal mental health model for Black birthing people. Funding supports community listening, clinical partnership development, care coordination design, and a pilot mini-circle, resulting in a stronger, evidence-informed model ready for full implementation. TriHealth
“Behavioral Health Integration Project”
A $9 million, three-year bi3 investment supports TriHealth’s plans to expand the integration of Behavioral Health services into pediatric and adult primary care locations, as well as introduce best-practice care models in other specialty areas, including obstetrics and oncology, throughout the system. The expansion of TriHealth’s cutting-edge integrated behavioral health consultant model of care made it among the first health systems in the nation to provide pediatric and adult patients with this comprehensive approach. “Health Equity Center”
bi3 awarded a $4.5 million grant to TriHealth to support the implementation of a new Health Equity Roadmap and provide seed funding to establish a Center for Health Equity at TriHealth. Combined with the 2021 grant of $662,500, a one-year grant to TriHealth will support a comprehensive plan to reduce health disparities and build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. “Precision Medicine Institute”
A $4.3 million three-year start-up grant supports the TriHealth launch of the region’s first formalized multi-disciplinary Precision Medicine Institute, giving tens of thousands of tristate patients access to customized, preventive and potentially lifesaving genetic care. The launch built on previous bi3 funding to train clinicians on using precision medicine and integrating patients’ genomic indicators within their electronic records. Learn more. (2022)
Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio
“Urban League to eliminate racial disparities”
bi3 awarded $1,500,000 over three years to support the implementation of the Urban League of Southwestern Ohio’s 2023-2026 strategic plan to eliminate racial disparities by addressing the social determinants of health by developing innovative solutions to address generational poverty; driving public policy changes to help eliminate the economic drivers to racial disparities; effectively communicating impact and strengthen the organization’s operations. Uzima Rejuvenation Station
bi3 awarded $400,000 over three years to support the implementation of the initiative, which provides culturally competent childbirth education and breastfeeding support, as well as education and resources to address the social determinants of health. The program serves a significant portion of Black expectant parents and babies in Butler County, improving infant mortality rates and health outcomes. (2024)
YWCA of Greater Cincinnati
“YWCA to improve health and safety outcomes for women and girls”
bi3 awarded $1,500,000 over three years to build YWCA’s organizational capacity to achieve systems-level change, resulting in improved health and safety outcomes for women and girls. Objectives include sustaining operations of trauma-informed domestic violence emergency shelter and housing programs, creating and activating a racial and gender equity policy advocacy plan driven by community needs, and expanding racial equity training for agencies and institutions that lead the systems identified in the advocacy plan.
